About the Lecture:
Through translation, the English-speaking world gains access to a dynamic and diverse array of literary works produced in modern China. Modern Chinese literature can thus enrich world literature by offering diverse narratives, cultural perspectives, and unique insights into modern Chinese society that promote cross-cultural understanding and enhance the global literary landscape. This paper explores the English translation of modern Chinese literature and uncovers the captivating literary tapestry that emerges. It seeks to examine the unfolding of the irreducible richness of modern Chinese literature and to understand how its translation, interpretation and reception are shaped in an international context.
